In the Spring of 2015, Michigan launched its new state assessment called the Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress, or M-STEP. The M-STEP includes summative assessments designed to measure student growth effectively for today’s students.
5th grade areas of assessment= English language arts, mathematics and social studies
6th grade areas of assessment= English language arts and mathematics
7th grade areas of assessment= English language arts, mathematics and science
8th grade areas of assessment= English language arts, mathematics and social studies

The Northwest Evaluation Association, or NWEA, is a nationally approved student growth measurement tool used by our staff to assess student growth. The NWEA is given to students in grades 5 through 8 in the areas of mathematics and English language arts. Students in grades 6 through 8 are also given the NWEA in science.
