Technology in Action

tt

Hart Public Schools use a broad range of software packages and online services that provide anything from English Language Learners (ELL) programs to 21st-century teaching and learning applications. Please visit the list below to learn about some of the many programs and applications in use throughout the district.

stHPS teachers use SMART Boards. A SMART Board is an interactive touch-sensitive whiteboard that can be used to collaborate and communicate with students in the classroom, with faculty or staff in conference rooms, with colleagues over the Internet, or just about anywhere that has electricity and a computer available. SMART Boards work seamlessly with SMART Notebook software, which is the go-to application for creating and managing lesson content for student touchscreen interaction. For more info, CLICK HERE

gdGoogle Drive is a file storage and synchronization service created by Google. It allows users to store files in the cloud, share files, and edit documents, spreadsheets, and presentations with collaborators. Hart Public Schools Google users have access and storage available in the Google Drive online cloud. Google Drive can also be installed locally on both mac’s and pc’s and is used as a virtual hard drive that syncs data to the users online account when reconnected back to the internet. Users can choose what and what not to sync manually. For more info, CLICK HERE

slScholastic software is an internal server-based platform that can be accessed only while in the HPS network. Students who are struggling with reading and comprehension can greatly improve these needed skills using and testing from a selection of Scholastic Apps such as Scholastic Phonics Inventory (SPI), Scholastic Reading Inventory (SRI), Scholastic Reading Counts, and Read 180. For more info, CLICK HERE

glGaggle is a student email monitoring and filtering service. Gaggle blocks spam emails and filters out malicious and unwanted email content before it finds its way to a students inbox. Gaggle is especially useful in isolating internal cyberbullying and student self-endangerment or abuse. Once the Gaggle system flags such criteria, the email message is then passed on to an actual human Gaggle employee for review. If the Gaggle employee feels that a student may be in a dangerous situation, the employee then calls, text and emails selected HPS emergency contacts. For more info, CLICK HERE

ilImagine Learning is a language and literacy software program. Imagine Learning personalizes the learning experience by providing systematic instruction that adapts to each student’s needs. For example, the program helps students build literacy skills in a logical manner: first they learn letters, then they learn words. The activities break down skills into their component parts and organize them into little segments—such as teaching kids about sound before teaching letters. Imagine Learning individualizes the student experience. For more info, CLICK HERE

G Suite Training

G Suite Training (formerly Synergyse) is an interactive training tool that is designed for instructing users on how to use Google Apps. G Suite Training is built into the Google App browser window and will provide interactive training specific to the App that is currently opened. If Google Docs is opened, G Suite Training will provide training for Google Docs. If Gmail is opened, G Suite Training will provide training for Gmail, etc. etc. HPS teachers can use G Suite Training as a teaching tool in their classrooms. Students can also take advantage of G Suite Training at any time. For more info, CLICK HERE
